Sustainability in Production
O Green Ethanol ProtocolThe agreement, signed in 2007, anticipated the end of sugarcane straw burning, and was successfully implemented by producers in the region, especially the members of Socicana, who began harvesting 100% of raw sugarcane.
In 2017, the Greener Ethanol It was established to consolidate sustainable practices in the production chain, including the elimination of burning, protection of riparian areas, soil and water conservation, responsible use of pesticides, protection of wildlife, and fire fighting.
Adherence to the protocol reflects the producers' commitment to sustainability and social and environmental responsibility.
Recognitions and contributions
With the end of the wildfires, new challenges have emerged, such as arson. Adherence to the protocol ensures preventive measures and raises the score in the administrative responsibility assessment.
In 2019, the Association and producer Paulo Rodrigues received an Honorable Mention for good practices in the use of pesticides. In 2022 and 2023, Socicana was recognized by the Protocol's Executive Group for its contribution to best agro-environmental practices and for promoting sustainability in the São Paulo sugarcane energy sector, standing out in the implementation of the program's Technical Directives.
