The program Top Cane promotes continuous improvement and sustainability of production, identifying the property's strengths and weaknesses to develop an improvement plan with socio-environmental technical assistance and free services.
Technicians carry out periodic monitoring in the field, evaluating 191 criteria based on legislation and certifications (Bonsucro, LEAVE and Regulatory Standards), organized into five pillars: management, environment, work, good practices and infrastructure.
The efforts of the Association and the producers resulted, in 2015, in the Bonsucro certification for three agricultural condominiums: Murilo Morelli, Paulo Rodrigues and Roberto Cestari, which were recognized for their environmental, social, economic and technical management.
Bonsucro, a global non-profit organization based in London, promotes the sustainability of sugarcane production. Certification requires compliance with 11 principles, 26 criteria and 79 indicators.
Socicana achieved a range of 97%, the highest rate in Brazil, surpassing even certified plants, which achieve between 80% and 85%.
First MPB Certification
In 2019, the Renato Trevizoli and others condominium became the first in the world to produce MPB (Pre-Sprouted Seedlings) certified with the Bonsucro seal, consolidating the application of new technologies.
First Association to sell carbon credits
In 2020, Socicana continued its innovation process by making the first digital sale of certified sugarcane credits to an international company. The operation took place through the Bonsucro platform, and the Association was the first in the world to implement this type of sales.
